Building a Greener Future: Panel Warehouse’s Partnership with Ecologi
Introduction
In today’s world, sustainability is more important than ever. At Panel Warehouse, we are committed to positively impacting the environment. Our partnership with Ecologi is a testament to this commitment, as we work together to plant trees and support impactful climate projects around the globe.
Our Commitment to Sustainability
At Panel Warehouse, we believe every action counts when protecting our planet. We have partnered with Ecologi, a dedicated organization supporting tree planting and various climate projects worldwide. This partnership aims to offset our carbon footprint and contribute to a greener future.
How It Works
For every order placed with Panel Warehouse, we fund planting a new tree. This initiative not only helps to combat deforestation but also supports local communities by providing employment opportunities. Our efforts are part of a larger goal to become a Climate Positive Workforce, where we offset the carbon emissions of our entire team, including their personal travel, holidays, and more.
Impactful Projects
Our collaboration with Ecologi has allowed us to support numerous climate projects around the world. Some of the notable projects include:
• Avoiding methane emissions from landfills in Brazil
• Producing electricity from wind power in Thailand
• Preserving the Amazon rainforest in Brazil
• Generating clean electricity from hydropower in India
These projects are crucial in reducing carbon emissions and promoting renewable energy sources12.
Ecologi and STG’s
Ecologi is committed to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through its impactful environmental projects. By focusing on reforestation, renewable energy, and community-driven initiatives, Ecologi supports goals such as Climate Action (SDG 13), Life on Land (SDG 15), and Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7). Their efforts not only aim to combat climate change but also promote sustainable livelihoods, enhance biodiversity, and empower local communities. Through strategic partnerships and innovative solutions, Ecologi is making significant strides toward a more sustainable and equitable future for all.
Updates from our projects
At Panel Warehouse, we are thrilled to share the latest progress on our sustainability projects in collaboration with Ecologi.
Reforestation in Changalane, Mozambique
The projects in Mozambique are run by Eden Reforestation Projects whose main goal is to provide fair wage employment to poor villagers. It is designed to hire local people to grow and plant methodology results in socioeconomic and environmental impacts. Ecologi visited the sire in 2023 and saw the progress being made, the team was doing an amazing job and created a thriving community.
Planting forest gardens in Tanzania
Tanzania, with its prime geographical location, boasts a wealth of vibrant marine and coastal ecosystems, including estuaries, reefs, and mangroves. These coastal treasures not only provide essential habitats for diverse wildlife, supporting local communities but also play a crucial role in mitigating the impacts of extreme weather events like floods.
Our project is set in the picturesque region of Iringa, nestled in the southern part of Tanzania along the scenic ridges and valleys of the Udzungwa Mountains. Currently, farmers in Iringa cultivate one or two types of crops, a practice that leaves them highly susceptible to extreme weather conditions, pests, and market fluctuations.
By diversifying crop production, we aim to enhance the resilience of these farmers, ensuring sustainable livelihoods and a more robust agricultural sector. Join us in transforming Iringa’s farming landscape and securing a brighter future for its communities.
Planting in Irregele Milato, Mozambique
This is a coastal restoration in Zambezia, this project comprises 756 hectares in the Suleimani District of Zambezia Province, where today, local people often rely on fishing, agriculture, and charcoal production for their livelihoods. There has been a huge amount of deforestation in this area due to the need for timber for local people’s income and livelihoods.
Mangroves are coastal tree species that thrive in the tropics and are great at absorbing CO2 emissions as they can store in their roots. Recently Ecologi visited this site and saw some of the mangrove trees, it is reported these trees are healthy and fast-growing. The Eden Reforestation Projects team are please with the projects progress and has reported that the local community are working hard to protect the Mangroves.
Restoring the last fragment of tropical rainforest in Kenya
ITF, in collaboration with Women in Water and Natural Resource Conservation (WWANC), is empowering local communities with the essential skills and resources to restore and protect the Kakamega Forest. This initiative focuses on rehabilitating the degraded Illoro forest block within the Kakamega Tropical Rainforest by replanting native African wild tree species and actively involving local communities in conservation efforts. Located in Kakamega County, Kenya, approximately 380 km northwest of Nairobi, this project aims to rejuvenate the Illoro Forest Block and ensure its sustainable future.
In Uganda, our project is dedicated to establishing 400 Forest Gardens in the Mount Elgon region of Eastern Uganda. Each Forest Garden spans about one hectare, and local farmers receive comprehensive support and training over four years to cultivate and maintain their gardens. By the end of this program, farmers will have established and protected Forest Gardens, providing sustainable livelihoods and generating vital income for their families.
Restoring degraded land in Senegal
Our exciting new project is set in the Tambacounda region of Senegal, specifically in the commune of Golmi. This strategic location is near 20 partner villages of H&T in the Bakel and Goudiry region our team has extensive experience working with local communities.
To create optimal conditions for tree growth, H&T employs innovative “half-moons” or micro-basins that capture and retain water during the rainy season. The earthworks for this project are now complete, marking a crucial milestone in preparing the ground for planting in the coming months.
Seed collection from the local area will continue through April, and in May, we will form a dedicated sowing team from the local community. This collaborative effort ensures that the project not only supports environmental sustainability but also empowers residents.
