Panel Warehouse takes a look at the top 5 Office Offenders
Every office has different personalities all lumped together. It’s no secret that we spend most of our working lives sat with complete strangers rather than our family members or loved ones. Luckily for a few of us we get to work with some great people and make some lifelong friends, but that doesn’t mean they don’t distract us from our routine or workload.
With the integration of the open plan office space becoming more and more popular, some workers are finding it hard to concentrate on work when distractions are prevalent and chatter flows freely. Of course healthy discussion and office interaction is a good thing, and can of course increase productivity, and especially morale, in the work place, but sometimes we just need a quiet, cordoned off space to work.
Panel Warehouse takes a look at the top 5 most distracting office personalities.
The Office Joker
Constant pranks and invasion of personal space/items may be this person’s forte. Funny the first time, but the 15th? Maybe not. This guy or girl may go too far with the jokes or pranks, distracting you as you try and check for glued together drawers or missing paper work all in the name of “Fun”.
The Office grump
This person complains at everything. Whether it’s the workload or the food in the canteen; something is bothering them. This person might make you feel like your cat has just died at the mere sound of their voice. Morale drops and your will to work fades very quickly as you hurry out of the room to make that 5th cup of coffee just to replace their drone with the sound of a kettle boiling.
The Gossip
Everything from what happened on last night’s TV show to how much time Steve in accounting has been spending on the toilet. The Gossip can be a seriously annoying distraction, spouting verbal diarrhoea about the most trivial of subjects, and seriously not understanding how little you care that the cleaning lady has been spraying her screen with the wrong cleaner.
The Hummer
Music can be a welcome distraction – when you want it to be. The Hummer gets that ridiculously annoying melody line into your head, and worse, gets it wrong. Humming along ALL day which means an incessant noise akin to an artistically inclined Bumble Bee. There’s no nice way to ask them nicely to stop, so you end up trying to drown it out by committing your own crime; humming yourself.
The Loud Typist
These can be the bane of any office workers existence. With every keystroke sounding like they’re hammering a nail into something, this person’s lack of a soft touch can drive an office crazy. Headaches and the need to throw their keyboard out of the window can be a few symptoms caused by this obviously ignorant offender. The worse thing is, they type super slow.
Here at Panel Warehouse we know all about these Office Offenders. If your employees or co-workers are boring you with the details of their dog’s bowel movements from across the room, or someone sounds like they’re punching a hole through their keyboard in the slowest time possible, we can help you drown them out.
