Thinking of buying some Display Boards then please read our helpful guide and top 10 Display Board tips:

  1. Size matters …
Display boards are manufactured in a huge range of styles, sizes and shapes, so when choosing the right boards for you, remember to establish the space that you have available to you.  This may sound obvious but you will be surprised.
Will you be exhibiting in a number of venues where the presentation space will change   – will it increase or decrease?  Think about how flexible your display boards will need to be.
If your display space doesn’t change very often then pre hinged kits such as Folding Display Boards are ideal, if you need flexibility then you may want to consider Panel and Pole Display Boards these give you the option use as much or as little of the display as required.
  2. Storage and Transportation…
Always consider how you will transport your display boards to the venue – will you be travelling by car, public transport or will you send them by courier?  Whatever you decide you must ensure that your boards are well packaged to prevent unnecessary damage.
When travelling by car or public transport consider how you will carry the boards to the venue and be aware of the distance that you will have to carry them.
Many clients have different preferences from bags to cases, if you are unsure of what options are available then it is always best to seek advice.
When not in use all Display Boards must be stored in suitable carry cases and bags in a clean, dry and dust free environment to prevent damage. Boards should not be kept where they in are in contact with something that will cause indentations in the boards they should also be suitably stacked to prevent bowing or warping.
  3. Colour …
Display boards are manufactured in a huge range of colours which can often leave you spoilt for choice. Remember to keep it simple, try to think about the type of message or image you want to portray.  Do you want to be subtle? Do you have a serious message to send out?  If so maybe more neutral colours such as grey or black are more appropriate.
Do you want to stand out from the crowd? Then choose a more vibrant colour such as Blue, Green or Red, for the more daring you may consider Yellow.
Often clients choose a colour that is close to or compliments their corporate colours.
  4. Setting up the Display …Who will be assembling the display boards? Smaller display kits are ideal if you are attending an event on your own and there is just you assembling the display.
  5. Choosing a good display space…
Before you set up the display boards make sure that the space you have been allocated is clean and that the floor is even.  An even floor will often make the boards easier to assemble and will ensure that they are stable once set up.
If you have very lightweight display boards please remember to assemble them away from doorways or in areas with a heavy flow of people.  You will be surprised how busy walkways become, also allow for distracted people not looking where they are going.
Doorways in shops, malls, supermarkets  and public halls can be very drafty – not good if you presenting all day but can be potentially problematic if the weather is particularly bad that day, a strong gust of wind can move even the heaviest of display kits.
  6. Outdoor Displays …
Most display boards are for use indoors only as they have a fabric covering making them impractical for use outdoors. There are a number of things to consider when buying a display board for outdoor use so it is always best to discuss the suitability of a display board together with your requirements before making a purchase.
  7. How much time will you have …
Lots of customers appreciate the fact that some boards can be assembled in minutes.  If time is often at a premium then choose kits that are simple to assemble such as Folding Display Boards and preferable ones that do not have lots of fiddly extras, these can be confusing and customers often find that bits and pieces can go astray – very frustrating when you are in a rush.
  8. Maintenance of the boards …
Every client is different, some clients use their display boards every day, others once a year, so the wear will vary. How the boards are handled and stored will also have a significant effect on the life of the boards – prevention is often better than cure.
Try to keep food and drink away from the boards to prevent spillages, marks and stains.
As and when required remove dust and fluff with a stiff brush.
  9. Use push pins to display…
Push pins are a great way to display your posters, photos etc. Although drawing pins can be used, push pins are easilier to pull out as the head is longer than a flat head on a drawing pin.
  10. Enjoy using the boards …
Remember that display boards can be used to promote your business or organisation so look for as many opportunities to use them as much as you can whether it is in your reception area, conference room or library.
