Trade Show Challenges

A trade show setting is arguably the most competitive marketing environment of all, and, whereas in online marketing there is no direct communication between you and your customer, in a trade show it is all about effective human to human contact, bolstered by the quality of your display stands.

This creates the most pertinent challenge for trade show displays, and your static display stands need to be enhanced to reach out to potential customers. This means that often the tactics used for exhibition displays are relatively ‘crude’ and mean highly visible, eye-catching display stands.

It is important to remember that attendees at a trade show are bombarded with the diverse interests of different displays, and therefore they are often mentally exhausted when the visit your stand. Therefore, often, a combination of soft selling, with basic advertising “tricks” (like high visibility,) can really make a difference.

The other big challenge of a trade show that needs to be surmounted is the inertia of your own stand, i.e. how do you reach out to your customers from a static pitch? Well there are a few ways to mobilise your brand presence at an exhibition, for instance, you could try incorporating other kinds of display (such as brochure displays) into your setting.

Alongside the quality of your displays, the quality of your staff will have a massive effect on the success or failure of your display stands, and therefore it is important that your staff are well versed in communicating effectively with customers at an exhibition.
