Why Room Dividers Are Essential To The Modern Hospital

With modern medical care being what it is today, hospitals and medical staff are finding themselves under increasing pressure. Doctors and nurses are busier than ever, patients feel undervalued, and even the hospitals themselves are in desparate need of reconstructive surgery.

A great bone of contention for patients, especially the elderly, is that mixed wards are becoming more common. This is something you cannot blame anyone for being upset about. Seeing a stranger while you are feeling at your worst and wearing a hospital gown or your bedclothes is hardly ideal – but make that a stranger of the opposite sex and you have a truly embarrassing situation in hand.

It seems strange that people should be expected to deal with situations that take them out of their comfort zone when they are least able to deal with it.

The lack of privacy on hospital wards is famously discussed. It may be impossible to have a private discussion with a visiting member of your family with your bed neighbour listening to your every word. But that is merely annoying compared to the potential of being examined by a doctor. Privacy screens can be sorely needed in this situation.

Thankfully, while walls cannot be conjured out of thin air it is possible to construct some semblance of privacy by using room dividers.

Screen room dividers can be rolled across to put a patient’s bed out of view while they are being examined or in discussion with a doctor. The use of room dividers is a small action but it has a hugely meaningful effect. A room divider screen can give a sick person privacy in their most vulnerable moments, which they will be grateful for.
